According to the numbers from cisco, global internet traffic may reach as high as 4 times greater than what it is at the current time. This is much more crowded than what we can imagine.
Online video is going to play a huge role in the growing percentage of this internet traffic. Increasingly, video has consumed at least half of broadband consumption and usage will steadily climb even more.
Let’s hope that broadband speed will grow with the taxing demands.
In the United States, annual growth for internet traffic will increase almost 3 times as much. The data and predictions were collected in the year of 2011.
Here’s a bold prediction that internet surfers in the U.S. might be interested in: “In the United States, 91% of broadband connections will be faster than 5 Mbps in 2016, up from 58% today.”
Broadband speed in the United States has been a problem in many spots. Many remote areas still rely on dial-up internet access. This is hard to imagine for those in cosmopolitan locations, but for others it is a harsh reality. The economic recession might also be taken into consideration.
And just how many are still using the old-fashioned Internet highway?
