TV In 2009 And Beyond
Your new television in 2009. What is it going to look like? What are the new technologies? What is in? What is available?
Welcome to the age of the Digital Revolution. The signal being transmitted to your set will be completely digital after June 12, 2009. This is actually history in the making, and the era of analog TV is over, after 60 years of dominating the entertainment scene.
Expect to see thin, green, 3D TV, Broadband TV, Mobile DTV for cell phones, OLED television sets, flexible screens that bend, and futuristic devices that could easily work with the Jetson family.
Energy efficiency is going to carry greater significance. Television sets may eventually be labeled with the Energy Star. California is currently considering what measures to take, concerning power usage of large screen sets. Large HDTV’s are eating into the grid, more so than previously thought.
The OLED TV (organic light emitting diode) is developing technology, but will definitely be common in many households in the future. They are thin, environmentally friendly, and consume less energy than today’s sets. OLED’s use less energy than LCD’s. The picture is breathtaking. But OLED sets are very expensive, until they become mainstream.
And yes, television screens are going to be flexible, like laminated plastic. This will allow manufacturers to produce TV reception on bracelets, monitors, notebooks, readers, etc. The possibilities are endless. This is the future of OLED.
Television will be integrating with broadband. The marrying of the two technologies will allow you to search information while watching television. This will be accomplished using widgets on your TV set, piping through an ethernet cable, which is hooked up to the back of the TV.
For techno enthusiasts that really want one of the best available at the moment, the Sony Bravia XBR KDL-40XBR6 40-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV is one you might consider strongly. This one is truly amazing.
