Latitude And Longitude
Find the coordinates of your house or location. You can do this without the aid of a GPS Navigator. Of course a GPS would make the job easier and probably more accurate. Let’s try it with just a computer. Is it possible?
Let’s go to a website and see just how well that we can find coordinates without the aid of a GPS Navigator.
Multimap is a very good one that I tried and it was not bad. The final results were good and may work well for you. Here are a few tips I found useful:
STEP 1: Get the nearest city next to your location.
STEP 2: Right click the mouse on the red circle; then drag it to your desired location.
STEP 3: Be patient, it may take a couple of tries.
Then I decided to see if my coordinates were correct. Well, they were very close. My coordinates landed me in my neighbors yard. Close but not quite precise enough. It all depends on how accurate one wants to get. Maybe I didn’t play with this one enough.
In order to fine tune my results, I decided to try another great website to finish the job that I started.
iTouchMap.com, which is powered by Google Maps, is a very good website. Get the latitude and longitude of a point. This site has several tools and tables to get results. So after working things a bit, I was more satisfied. This site I found to be very easy to manipulate and I was quite happy with the results. I hope you have good results as well. Give it a try.
