If you’ve ever planted a vegetable garden or designed a landscape bed, then you know how much hard labor that is involved. You are aware of the detail and the time invested in an important yard project. Only after planting you discover that the deer are roaming the neighborhood. How do you keep the deer out of the garden?

I thought of a few things that might work, but didn’t really know if they would stand the test of time. Somewhere in my head I had thought about a common sense approach; something that included a motion detector device. I thought about motion detector lights, and possibly something even better — the Contech CRO101 Scarecrow Motion Activated Sprinkler.

And don’t get me wrong because deer are very interesting creatures to watch. They are important in nature and are an attractive species. Unfortunately, they will instantly devour valuable plant material that gardeners cherish. So deer do become a problem for the weekend warrior in the back yard.

There are a number of home remedies that might deter deer traffic, but I do find the Scarecrow Sprinkler a nice addition to the garden, without harming them.
