How well do those infrared electric portable heaters work? This was a question that I asked myself some time ago. What is the best infrared heater for me?

There have been good reports about several models of the infrared heater group, but I was skeptical at first.

Then, I acquired the LifeSmart LifePro LS-1002HH 1,200 Sq Ft Infrared Quartz Electric Portable Heater. I will give an honest review of this product.

Not only would I recommend this brand, I probably wouldn’t buy anything else in this genre of heater. I’ve owned the heater for a short time now and I’m totally pleased with it.

There are a few features that are worth mentioning.

The remote control is absolutely a must with the infrared heater. No, it’s not a matter of being lazy, it’s all about convenience. If you want consistent heat and do not want to be bothered by the trivialities of a switch, the remote control totally eliminates this distraction.

Another important feature that is very helpful is the on/off power switch on the back of the heater. When I’m sleeping or leaving any portable heater unattended, I prefer to turn the power switch off. The unit accommodates with a simple, easy to access switch that works well.

The problem with some of the smaller portable heaters is that they have no switch. I prefer a power switch for safety reasons. This can serve separately from the thermostat functions.

The unit is built well and has wheels that roll. The wheels aren’t exactly necessary, but I have grown accustomed to them. The unit is easy to maneuver with the wheels.

The unit has a fan to distribute heat throughout the room. The fan is a luxury and is a welcomed one. I also use an additional portable fan for heat distribution.

The thermostat is a practical feature.

For those wondering about the square footage of the room, this isn’t really an issue. I generally feel that this type of heater will heat half of the estimated value. I don’t put too much weight on this factor. I can confidently say that the heater will do what it claims.

Keep in mind the infrared heater is supposed to be supplement heat. It is not designed to heat the house in the far north during a harsh winter. It is designed to heat a living room and possibly a nearby dining room. (It’s probably too much for a small bathroom.)

The public has somewhat built a myth around the infrared heater. Some claim that a heater such as this will heat the whole dwelling. A bigger heater is definitely going to be necessary for harsher climates.

For those looking for supplemental heat, look no further. This unit is the one. It’s perfect for a mid-sized to large room. If you’re wanting to take the chill out of the room, this one is handy and durable. I do recommend it.
