RNW End Shortwave Broadcasts To North America  – 26 October 2008

It appears that Radio Netherlands Worldwide has made the decision to end shortwave broadcasts to North America. After taking a survey, they have come to the conclusion that there was a decline of listeners.

The programs will still be offered through live streams, podcasts, satellite, and Sirius Radio.

Many listeners have expressed that they are not happy about the decision. Many listeners say that they do not have the alternatives that others are fortunate to have, or do not want to be tied up at a computer. Many have been listening via shortwave for years.

Many longtime loyal listeners will be very disappointed. The times are changing. On July 1, 2001, the BBC Radio World Service ended their transmission to North America.

Radio Netherlands is the Dutch world broadcaster, located in Hilversum, The Netherlands.
