Rochester Police Chief Calls For An Internal Investigation

Rochester, N.Y — On May 12th, of 2011, a lady from Rochester was told to go inside her own house while she was videotaping the police. Rochester city police were working a routine traffic stop in front of her house, located in the 19th Ward, Rochester, New York. This happened during the night.

Officer Mario Masic, with the Rochester Police Department, executed the arrest.

The officer first popped the question to Emily Good who is 28, “You guys need somethin’?”, as you can hear in the video.

Emily Good replied to the officer, “I’m just, this is my front yard, I’m just recording what you’re doing. It’s my right.”

Later the same officer instructed Good, ” I don’t feel safe with you standing behind me. I’m gonna ask you to go inside your house.” He then told her a second time to go back in the house. After not complying to his commands, Good was placed under arrest.

Is it illegal to record officers on your front lawn? Was this an illegal arrest?

Rochester’s Police Chief has asked for an internal investigation subsequent to the incident. Chief James Sheppard released a statement saying he had just received video of Good’s arrest. After getting arrested for the first time ever, Good will have to do 8 hours of community service (WHAM).

According to one of the bystanders on the recorded tape, the man that they had originally pulled over was let loose.
But yet they took her. Ironic.
