November 6, 2012 Match-ups
What if the presidential election were held today? Who would be declared the winner? Several polls were conducted on a nation-wide basis. Here are a few of the most current results.
1. CNN/Opinion Research Corp. – (Oct 16-18, 2009) Mike Huckabee 32%, Sarah Palin 25%, and Mitt Romney 21%.
CNN poll — 7 in 10 say Palin not qualified. This seems to be the consensus clear-cut across the board.
2. Rasmussen Reports – (Oct 15, 2009) Rasmussen has Huckabee as the nominee, while previously polls favored Romney. Mike Huckabee 29%, Mitt Romney 24%, Sarah Palin 18%.
Poll results say 81% think any Republican will beat Obama.
(July, 2009) This poll says it’s a tie — Mitt Romney 45%, Obama 45%.
Palin would lose against Obama (48-42).
Interesting one, Hillary Clinton beats Palin (51-39). Here’s one even stranger. Men prefer anybody but Obama, as women prefer Obama even over Palin.
3. Public Policy Polling – (Oct 16-19 2009) PPP has Mike Huckabee as the strongest Republican, but thinks Obama will beat him (Obama 47%, Huckabee 42%).
Interesting to note that 38% of Huckabee voters are unsure — favorable or unfavorable. Clear majority pick unfavorable with Palin.
4. Fox News – (Oct 13-14, 2009) Fox has any Republican defeating Obama — 48%-43%. A poll taken in July shows Romney 22%, Huckabee 21%, and Palin 17%.
5. Gallup – (July 16, 2009) Gallup favors Mitt Romney (Romney 26%, Palin 21%, Huckabee 19%. Gallup suggests that Palin was not hurt by resignation.
(Oct 21, 2009) Obama’s approval ratings falls 9 points to 53%. The 9-point drop in the most recent quarter is the largest Gallup has ever measured for an elected president between the second and third quarters of his term, dating back to 1953. The key issue is the economy. Specifically, jobs is the key political focus.
