2010 Hot Trends

Red Hot Trends
1. Bigger Televisions: Everybody wants at least 41 inches and larger with the latest technology onboard. Believe it or not HDTV sales are up 26.9% and LCD’s are up 48.2% from Q3 2008.
2. Home Internet Access: At least 85.3% of Americans have some kind of internet access. Nobody wants to dare say that d-u (dial-up) word. High speed is the answer. The faster the better. But some type is essential.
3. Home Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi is becoming a must have. Everybody has an iPod, or some type of wireless rig that needs Wi-Fi. At least 8.2% this year alone have gone Wi-Fi, with many more heading in that direction.
4. Digital Video Recorders: At least 14.5% of people have bought recently; with 40% of all homes owning a DVR device.
5. MP3 Players: At least 46% of all homes have a MP3 Player of some kind. And of those that do, at least 63% have gone with an Apple iPod. Yep, they’re hot.
6. Apple iPad: What will Apple think of next? They’ve cornered the market on just about everything. On April 3, 2010, Apple launched the iPad. At least 3.6% of homes now have one, and that trend will continue no doubt.

Cooling Trends
1. Satellite Radio: Seems like satellite radio was all we heard for awhile, but that seems to be leveling off for now. Up 5.5% over 8 quarters. Watch for internet radio to take off.
2. Digital Video Disc Players: DVD players down .6%. At least 87.9% of homes have one, but that seems to be the best of times for now. I think it’s all gonna go streaming anyways.
3. Video Cassette Recorders: Many have completely written off the VCR, which seems outdated. So much better stuff out there now. Ownership down to 70.2%. That really isn’t bad if you ask me. But this is yesterday’s technology.
4. Personal Digital Assistants: PDA down 25.5%. The Smartphone is king now.
