Pittsburgh Steelers Gain Lombardi Trophy Number Six
Ben Roethlisberger tossed the winning bullet to Santonio Holmes with just seconds left; inching by the Arizona Cardinals for a 27-23 win.
Super Bowl 43, held in Tampa Bay, Florida, started out rather slow. But the final few minutes of the game turned out to be another nail biter. Pittsburgh dominated most of the battle.
The dazzling pass from Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner to receiver Larry Fitzgerald in the fourth quarter appeared to seal the deal for the Arizona Cardinals. But two minutes in a football game is enough time to respond. And that’s just exactly what “Big Ben” Roethlisberger did.
Providing heavy coverage on Fitzgerald during most of the game was crucial in holding the Cardinals back. Penalties also plagued the Cardinals throughout the game. Both teams made sloppy plays; it was not a pretty game.
The turning point of the evening was the exciting drive ran by James Harrison, linebacker for the Steelers. Harrison intercepted the ball and dashed 100 yards for a touchdown! Many football fans are going to agree that this was the most memorable part of the game.
Kurt Warner, veteran quarterback for the Cardinals, has absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. Unabashedly, he fought valiantly every step of the way. The mighty Steelers just happened to be the last man standing.
