A few things are quite clear as I sit and type these words. The winter solstice has officially started the winter season in the northern hemisphere, bringing with it very strong winds and a dusting of white snow for many locations. I hear a wise voice in the wind — saying that it’s time to insulate the windows — starting with the ones facing the west. The turbulent winds often come from the west. One way to accomplish this goal — wrap the windows with bubble wrap — Duck Brand Bubble Wrap Protective Packaging, 12-Inch Wide Roll, 30-Feet x 0.18 Inches, Clear (10230).

Brrrr is it cold!

Bubble wrap on the windows inside the house? Is this correct you ask? Yes, and bubble wrap works extremely well as thermal insulation. Believe it. And it is very easy to work with. It looks good as well.

This is very simple to do. Just use tacks to hold and secure the bubble wrap around the window frame. Layer the width of the wrap together, using tape to secure the strips.

Here’s another important tip. If you already have a shower curtain that you don’t need, just put it up over the bubble wrap. This will give you another layer of protection. Cheap shower curtains can often be found at the dollar stores.
